Reaching for Father

Reaching for FatherThe other day I was passing through the kitchen and happened to noticed three empty Diet Coke cans on top of the refrigerator, which Nelson had placed there, to be disposed of at a later time. Shaking my head I reached up for them and laughed to myself thinking, “O well, instead of being irritated, guess I should thank him…after all…at least I’m getting exercise every time I strain to reach the things above me”.

Then it came to me…It’s the same way with reaching for the things of Father.

Think about it…the ways of Father are different than our ways. Not only does He have a higher and more grand plan than our minds could ever conceive, but the way He goes about getting us from here to there is as foreign to our nature as anything can be. Romans 5 verses 3 and 4 states;

“…we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope”.

Wow! Not exactly the way I would go about it!

Father places us in challenging situations every day of our lives…situations that will stretch us and cause us to grow…to mature in our faith and solidify our belief in Him.

So the next time you find yourself in a situation where you see yourself lacking; reach for more grace and understanding; stretch your hand wide to grab hold of compassion and mercy; tap the jug of heaven that is just outside your reach and watch as forgiveness, patience, long-suffering and self-control pour down upon you…and fills every aspect of your being…allowing yourself to be drenched in the love of the Father.

Let life’s situations cause you to reach for those things that are beyond your ability to grasp and watch Father as He reaches back and draws you to Him. He will bless you with all that is needed and required to see you through your journey.

Philippians 3:12-14

 …I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.

Never stop reaching my friend…never stop reaching for Him!

Anyways, I’ve Just Been Thinking….
